January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

Are all (or most) clownfishes peaceful to each other? From what I have read, most of the clownfish are peaceful to each other. The Tomato Clownfish likes to be by itself.

Clownfish need to establish a pecking order.  Sometimes fish die in this process.  Once they are all in their place, they usually get along fine, though the female will sometimes harry the male.  More aggressive clowns, like maroons, are more likely to kill each other, and less aggressive ones, like skunk clowns, are very unlikely.  With a large host, the order of things seems to be a single large female, a smaller male, and in the wild (I've never seen it in a tank) several smaller unsexed followers.  Even in the best of circumstances all others are driven off...In the worst of circumstances the female will suddenly kill all of the others. Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.

I have to agree with Paul on this I have 2 sets of Mated and active breeding Clowns My Black and White False Ocellaris Clown - (Amphiprion ocellaris) Tolirate a lone small male False Ocellaris Clown - ( Amphiprion ocellaris) However My other  Pair of Tomato Clown - (Amphiprion frenatus) are quite alot larger and The Female is quite agressive to all the preditory fish in my smaller 75 gallon SPS tank. I think she just likes to Bite I just don't like it when it is me.

However If you have a tank Greater than > 100 gallons they say you can usally keep two pairs in the same tank~This didn't work for me so the safe rule is one pair per tank...Jeff's 2 cents

Ditto.  155 gallon and the Perc's we had went after our new black and white's immediately.  Killed one, bothered the other.  We gave the perc's to Carmen & Nacho so we could keep our new black and white (and replacement partner) alive.
