Mid-Columbia Saltwater Aquarium Club

April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Sounds like this is going somewhere but no sure what.  It doesn't look like we are getting the response we need to get the ball rolling.  This is like an interview for a job, you need to have certain qualifications for certain positions and for a conference to kick off like this year we need to have the right people in the right position.  We know who has the rapport with our sponsers and he did a wonderful job so why change that.  We know who our spokesperson is for the club so he needs to come forward and contact our speakers.  We know who the cooks are so that will cover the social night at Dashia's (Right, Dashia? Shocked) and most importantly, we need our fundraiser organizer to come forward with ideas because without the funds, we will be limited.  Of course, the rest of us need to come forward and help where help is needed in order to make this a successful event once again.  Together Everyone Accomplishes More....what does it spell TEAM Cheesy

Sorry, I was on a roll but the real reason I got on was to say that we would like to change the meeting FROM the second Saturday TO the third Saturday of September.

We will get a map out when the time gets closer.

Carmen,  Were you a cheerleader in high school?   Cheesy  If you were, I bet you were great at it.

Very good post and everything in it is true.  If anyone has questions about what it means to head a committee, don't hesitate to contact Rick or I.  We will be completely honest about the level of effort it would take.

By the way, I am really glad you are moving the meeting to the third weekend.  If you have it on 9/22, I can attend and finally see your awesome fish room.

Gimme a "C"..... YOu are right Carmen! I am not willing to take on the "head" of the conference. I am hoping Ed will do Sponsorships, Rick-speakers, Cindy-advertising, brochures, tank tour, etc (from what I hear, she rocked!) Vicki- how about finding a location and getting that going? I am sure Clarion would be on board again. Nate- clams and corals- Dashia- Friday night social- Barbie, how about raffle? Ronn? Marty? We can do this, we just need some commitment from other members in this club. I know I cannot and will not do it alone! Grin

Well, I'm not sure we got the response we were looking for here.  With only seven people registering their willingness to help, and very few specific offers, it doesn't look like this is going anywhere.  On the other hand, we have only one "No" vote, so maybe it's the forums that aren't so popular these days Undecided

Many of the great volunteers from the past year have yet to respond at all, so I'm going to open this back up for one more week.  Dashia and Carmen have started a list with prime suspects candidates; anyone willing to step up and commit?

Here's some memories.

I would like to help in some way. My girlfriend Tracey and I are new to the club and are enthusiastic about the hobby and the conference. I'm sure you guys could find something for us to do. Let us know.

After the last club meeting at Nacho & Carmen's place,  the feeling was pretty strong about wanting to do this again and we do have a core of about 6 - 10 people that are willing to help.  Barbie & I agreed to lead the effort.  Additionally the Portland club has offered to help out with some stuff.

So with that out, if you all want to do this again, we can and should start the planning process right away.  Primarily in getting one or two speakers lined up.

We will be starting to develop the major tasks and assign priorities as well as asking for volunteers to lead or work each of these tasks.

Those that come to mind are:
Speakers
Venue or venues if more than one.
Catering
Advertising
Sponsorship - Primary
Sponsors - secondary and donated items.
Tank Tour
Schedule

Also, the October meeting / Halloween party is when club officer nominations occur.  So everyone be thinking about who you want leading the club next year.

Thanks

I just posted that in the "Next Meeting" box.  Friday, October 26th, at the Harrington's.

Oh my favorite! I hope we have a costume contest so it will give us all an incentive to dress up and have fun.  I'm sure we'll have fun regardless.

We plan on being there.

I'm looking for volunteers to work a Casino night at the Shilo Inn on October 13th for a Bechtel Party, if anyone is good (you don't have to be good, because I just bluff my way thru) at Texas hold em, Black Jack or the Roulette wheel and would like to be a dealer, let me know and I will give you details.
